In April 2011 I returned to work for England’s Ornamental Plaster on the former Brighton Herald Building.
The first task was to remove verdigris staining to the stonework above the front entrance. Following trials we used a poultice in several applications to remove the stains.
The mouldings to 4 bay windows on the front of the building had severely eroded. We tried some samples with different mixes of lime, fine sand, stone dust and specialist pre-mixes to match the colour and texture of the original Portland stonework and undertook the repairs.
